Let Us Teach You How To Save A Life
CPR Saves Lives... Many deaths can be prevented if the victim receives prompt help. If someone trained in CPR provides proper life saving measures until trained professionals take over... Starting CPR within 4-6 minutes can bring a person out of cardiac arrest without any permanent disability. If started with 10 minutes, there is still a chance of successful resuscitation.
Cardiac arrests are more common than you think, and they can happen to anyone at any time
If you are an employer, make sure you have CPR trained employees and an AED in the workplace... you might be the patient. If you are an employee, spread the word that Porter Fire Department cares about you and your organization.

Heartsaver First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings. It is also designed to teach CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO) to all lay rescuers, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace. Participants include security guards, firefighters, police, and other lay responders. Although the course may be used to teach CPR to all lay rescuers, it is specifically designed for lay rescuers who are required to obtain a course completion card -a credential- documenting completion of a CPR course.
