Charles Martin
Chief Martin started in April 1983 as a volunteer with Kingwood Area EMS and found his way across the floor to the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department the following year.
In August of 2020, Chief Martin came to the Porter Fire Department following a 34 plus year career with the Houston Fire Department; having retired from Special Operations as a District Chief over the Deployable Operations Group which oversaw participation with TIFMAS, Texas Task Force, and the operations of the Marine Unit, Incident Management Team and Drones.
Chief Martin during his career with the Houston Fire Department was assigned to various commands and committees including Planning & Research, Val Jahnke Training Facility Emergency Operations, and committees that included apparatus and protective gear; however, the bulk of his career was in Emergency Response, responding from the firehouse.
As the Assistant Fire Chief, he oversees the daily operations of the Porter Fire Department to include Support Services, Professional Development and Emergency Response. The Porter Fire Department grows annually in the number of citizens we serve, responses we make and the ongoing effort to grow with the community.
