Ray Vaden

Position: Deputy Chief: Professional Development

Chief Vaden began his fire service career in 2000 as a volunteer firefighter for the Splendora Volunteer Fire Department.  Upon completion of EMT class and the fire academy, Chief Vaden began his professional career in 2002 with the City of Bryan.  In 2007, he came to the Porter Fire Department as an Engine Company Lieutenant and has since been promoted through the ranks of Captain, Battalion Chief, and currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Professional Development.

As the Deputy Chief of Professional Development, Chief Vaden is responsible for the education and compliance of the organization’s training program.  This includes all in-service and continuing education classes, new employee orientation training, EMS CE training, and our new special operations/technical rescue team’s training hours. In addition to the duties listed above, he also sits on the Montgomery County Fire Chief’s Training Committee and serves as the agencies liaison to the county-based EMS agency (MCHD) which is the managing company for our First Responder Organization within the county.

Chief Vaden also serves as the Region 4 coordinator for the statewide agency Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) and a Planning Section Chief with the Texas A&M Forest Service Incident Management Team.
