Chief Sever came to Porter Fire Department in 2005 as a certified firefighter. He has progressed through the ranks from part-time firefighter to that of Deputy Chief, as of August of 2024.

As the Deputy Chief of Support Services, he oversees the daily operations of a team of civilian personel and is responsible for duties to include managing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fleet services, quartermaster, radios, IT and facilities.

When off time presents itself, Chief Sever can often be found serving at his church, spending time with his wife and children or working to grow his family’s outdoor ministry.
